Metl-Span's line of single-skin panels includes 11 configurations for wall applications. The line consists of the Prestige Series® and the Profile Series. The Prestige Series offers for 12” wide concealed fastener panels with different reveal options and one 16” wide Fluted panel. Metl-Span Roof Helps Earn LEED™ Certification
The Pennsylvania Department of Environmental Protection Office Building located in California, PA has obtained Gold Level Version 2.0 LEED™ Certification by the United States Green Building Council (USGBC).
The building’s roof utilizes 19,000 sq. ft. of Metl-Span’s 4” CFR-42 polyurethane foam insulated panels with Galvalume Plus exterior finish over an Igloo White interior.
Design services were provided by L. Robert Kimball & Associates, Edensburg, PA in conjunction with 7group, Kutztown, PA. According to John Boecker, partner in 7group and also a design architect with Kimball, “An important component of LEED compliance is the minimization of the amount of material and processes involved. The Metl-Span panels really filled the bill. The all-in-one nature of the panels simplifies installation by reducing the number of systems required. With one simple, basically prefabricated product, we are able to achieve good insulation value with minimal materials and assembly.”
Jim Miller, Jr., project manager for Miller Brothers Construction, Schuylkill Haven, PA agrees, “With Metl-Span, one step and you’re done. Once the joists are up, just drop the panels in place and the roof is 95% complete.”
The use of Metl-Span panels also contributed LEED credits for reduction of the urban heat island effect, recycle content and for being a regionally manufactured material. The panels came from Metl-Span’s facility in Prince George, VA.
